Film Programme
Our film programme is split into several distinct streams.
We screen short films in competition, and we also screen narrative features and documentary features by first- or second-time feature directors in competition.
We are a Qualifying Festival for the Short Film Academy Award. Please read the Academy's Short Films Rules at www.oscars.org/rules. Please note that previous television or Internet broadcast will disqualify a film from consideration for our short film competition.
Our World Cinema Showcase includes films that have won awards on the festival circuit, or are otherwise highly regarded.
Our Country Sidebar focuses on the artistic output of a particular filmmaking country, while our Reel Music Sidebar features films with a music angle.
The major and mini-major studios kindly provide our Opening and Closing Night films, while we also screen several films as Special Presentations, others in our Midnight Madness section, more films in From the Onion Patch (films by Bermuda-based filmmakers) — and our BIFF Kids section screens films of interest to our younger audiences. |
