Film Programme
Our film programme is split into six distinct streams.
We screen all short films in competition which compete for the Audience Choice Award. All narrative short films are compete against one another for the Bermuda Shorts Award which is given out by our esteemed jury.
We are a Qualifying Festival for the Short Film Academy Award. Please read the Academy's Short Films Rules at www.oscars.org/rules for eligibility details. Please note that previous television or Internet broadcast will disqualify a film from consideration for our short film competition.
The major and mini-major studios kindly provide our Opening and Closing Night films, the World Cinema showcase includes films that have won awards on the festival circuit, or are otherwise highly regarded. While we also screen a variety of films in other section such as: , After-Hours, Masterworks, Modern Masters, From the Onion Patch (films by Bermuda-based filmmakers) - and our BIFF Kids section screens films of interest to our younger audiences.
In the past we also put on a Country Sidebar which focused on the artistic output of a particular filmmaking country, while our Reel Music Sidebar featured films with a music angle. Not to mention numberous retrospectives and special presentations.
