Entry form
The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has elected to recognise the Bermuda International Film Festival as a qualifying festival for the Short Films category for the Annual Academy Awards®. BIFF is a qualifying film festival for the Short Film (live action) category of the Academy Awards. Please read the Academy's Short Films Rules at www.oscars.org/rules for eligibility details. Please note that previous television or Internet broadcast will disqualify a film from consideration for our short film competition.
BIFF screens both Feature and short films in competition, as well as out-of-competition.
Films may screen in 35mm, DigiBeta, HD-Cam, or Blu-RAY. Digital cinema projection is available at our main venue.
Please note Narrative features and documentary features in competition are limited to first or second-time feature directors. BIFF does not accept films in competition that premiere more than one year before the date of the festival. Works-in-progress are welcome provided the final print is ready by March 1st 2012.
Entrants must cover the expenses related to shipping the 2 DVD screeners to our programmers. If invited to screen, BIFF will cover the costs of inbound shipping and the entrant must cover outbound shipping costs.
BIFF is happy to work in conjunction with other festivals and exhibitors to keep filmmakers' shipping costs to a minimum.
